Omgawd. You guys have no idea. I love this place. I've been going to Toms since I was little! Probably for over 14 or so years, I don't even remember. Its diner food yeah, but its so much more than that. Its the atmosphere and the waitresses who are always so lovely. I love everything there, but I clearly am partial to their patty melts. And their red snapper is oh so freaking awesome. Yall dont even know, I probably want to get some tomorrow! This place is an institution. You can never go wrong with them

Go to Tom's for breakfast, and I doubt you'll be sorry! My uncle and I once practically lived at Tom's Restaurant. Their Bisquits & Gravy is delicious, especially if you throw it on top off some over easy or sunny side up eggs, and mix it all up and endulge! Their omelettes are ensatiable. If you want a really affordable, can't miss deal, get the "2+2+2" Not that their food isn't good later in the day, because it is good, but as far as breakfast goes, they are one of the best in the region.

Totally hit or miss here. First time I went for breakfast and it was delicious. The second time I went, I got an omelette and the cheese wasn't even melted in the middle and my hash browns were totally burnt. Our waitress was rude and slow. Haven't been back since, but I'd would be willing to give it another try.

Different name (Tom's Egg Crazy), but everything else is the same. If nothing else, I think they have some better specials now!! Definitely get the breakfast bowls that are new. They are no longer doing dinner, but have plenty of specials that are dinneresque. They're now open til only 4, so go early. That works perfectly for me! Prices are the same and all breakfasts get a free cup of homemade soup that is scrumptious. Get the OJ that is now seemingly fresh squeezed!!!! So glad to have places like this around still!

It's definitely worth the drive for breakfast. Everything is fresh and the hostess is always pleasant.

We're just visiting the area. Been here several times. Love the family style restaurants. This one is really great. The staff was very friendly. The resturant was very clean. I had the Greek style pork chops. Yep, chops with an s. You get 2. The meal started with home made chicken noodle soup. Yum! then salad. Fresh! A whole baked Greek potato, Greek salad and mixed vegetables. Wife had baby beef liver & onions. Yeah I know! Beef liver? Yep, it was cooked perfect. Really tender. Then to top it off, you get a desert. Ice cream, pie, cake or, get this, spumoni ice cream. We both got the spumoni. Oh so good. One could probably ask for a to go box right away, divide the meal in half and it would probably still be to much to eat. Oh yeah! I forgot. To drink, you get your choice of a glass of beer or wine and ice tea or soft drink. Both meals came to $26. What a deal. Just doesn't get any better than that. Our next trip to this area will include another visit here.

Always can get a solid meal here without breaking the bank. It's a great diner with great service. I hope it survives in Cal City, with all the other places seeming to close up now because of the great Chicago people moving in.

WE LOVE THIS PLACE !!!!! We have been coming to this restaurant for years and years and now my kids love it too!!! The food is great...doesn't matter if you go for breakfast, lunch or dinner....it's always good. The prices and staff are AWESOME as well. We live in Portage Indiana (originally from Chicago) and CANNOT find another restaurant quite like it anywhere around. It's worth my hour drive :)

With this restaurant, it just depends. Sometimes we would get great food and service, but on other occasions, we would just sit and wait. I also had to send food back a couple of times(sorry, I don't like omelettes that still have runny eggs). My hasband's family were regulas (lived in the area for over 50 years) and very good customers, but it just depends on if the owners are there and how busy it is. When the place is on the up side, it does have very good food and we usually did have decent service, but at least 30% of the time, something would be amiss--long wait(at table), wrong order, food being sent back. The Calumet/Lansing area has many good places to eat and I never found Tom's to be more than mediocre due to the up and down service
